When Pablo Gaggero originally left his home town of Buenos Aires to plant churches in California, he had no idea where the Lord would take him. After almost 10 years of faithfully serving and planting churches, Pablo felt a call to relocate to Texas.
“We need churches in Spanish in the Houston area because thousands and thousands of people who speak Spanish populate the area,” he said. “It’s extremely important that we open our doors to receive this community.”
Pablo is the pastor of a church plant called House of Prayer in Spring, Texas. His church meets in New Life CRC's building. In nearby Conroe, Texas, Diego Hiriart pastors International Faith Mission. The story of these two churches is featured in Home Missions' new video, Vida Nueva: New Life.
Diego and Pablo both serve quite diverse congregations – each one has members from many different countries. “We all speak Spanish, but we come from very different cultures,” explains Pablo. “We’ve come to realize that what unifies us is Jesus’ culture. We’re all sons and daughters of the same father and together we can build Christ’s kingdom.”
“I believe God likes variety,” says Diego, smiling broadly. “I think God likes my church because there is so much variety within.”
Home Missions has been eagerly supporting both congregations, and both Diego and Pablo are extremely grateful for the support of Home Missions. “Home Missions is a great blessing for our community and our church,” says Pablo. The encouragement, relationships, and resources Home Missions offers new churches like House of Prayer and International Faith Mission are much-needed. Since shooting this video, New Life CRC is helping plant a third Spanish-speaking church plant in the area - this new church goes by the name "Vida Nueva." This new church receives coaching, training, funding, and other support from Home Missions and local partners in the region. Praise God for the ways he is working in this neighborhood!
Home Missions is excited to offer this video and other resources — including bulletin covers and inserts, children's activity pages, and more — to help Christian Reformed Churches across North America celebrate Reformation Sunday. These resources are available at www.crhm.org/reformation.
